Though sleek and attractive, the Nexus One’s candy bar, touch-screen-only design doesn’t break new design ground. With its trackball and prominent display, it looks a bit like both the HTC Hero and the HTC Droid Eris. At 4.56 inches by 2.36 inches by 0.47 inch, it’s about the same size as the Droid Eris, the Hero, and the iPhone, but it weighs just 4.58 ounces The two-toned gray color scheme is standard smartphone, but the handset has a comfortable and very solid feel in the hand.
The Nexus One features active noise suppression by Audience, a large high resolution 3.7-inch AMOLED display for a truly vivid visual experience, as well as a 1GHz Snapdragon processor for super fast response. It runs Android 2.1 with key enhancements such as the car dock mode to optimize the Google Maps Navigation experience while driving and the clock mode to offer a practical desk clock with quick access to the alarm clock, music player and multimedia gallery.
The Nexus One is available for purchase through a web store hosted by Google. The web store can be found at www.google.com/phone. Currently consumers in the US, UK, Singapore and Hong Kong can buy the Nexus One without service (meaning any GSM network SIM card can be inserted into the device), or purchase the phone with service from one of Google’s operator partners.
HTC Nexus One is introduced by Google as the next step in Android evolution and the hardware found on is really impressive to say the least. As it was rumored, it packs a giant 3.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 480×800 pixels. The handset is also featuring the Snapdragon chipset with a processor, clocked at 1GHz. It runs on the Android 2.1 operating system.
